GIOVANNI BALDUCCI 1560-1631

Painting, oil on panel depicting the birth of Saint John the Baptist, attributed to Giovanni Balducci known as "il Cosci" Florence 1560- 1631 Naples. The work was authenticated by Prof. Carlo Falciani and comes from the Maurizio Ruffini collection (born 1892).

The composition of the painting in question refers to a version preserved in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow (inv. no. 132) and is taken from a preparatory drawing for the composition preserved in the Albertina, Vienna (inv. no. 589 ).
